  • Our e-bikes are suitable for riders 147 cm (5 ft) and taller. If you're between 147–160 cm, please let us know in advance so we can arrange a smaller bike. Participants under 147 cm can join with a regular bike
  • Please arrive at the starting point 15 minutes early. The bike tour begins promptly at the scheduled time and late arrivals cannot be accommodated
  • For option without tickets: Kindly note that payment for the tickets will need to be made on the day of the tour in cash or card
  • For option with tickets: Acropolis entrance tickets are included, so please do not purchase them separately
What to expect

Located only a breath away from the Acropolis museum, Athens by Bike is where you will meet your bike tour leader. Then, you will receive a short introduction of the tour and you will get a state-of-art city bike and a helmet before starting our exciting Acropolis tour by bike around all the main landmarks of Athens!

During the first part of the tour, you will get a glimpse of the Panathenaic Stadium, the symbol of modern Olympic Games, as well as Zappeion Hall, a magnificent architectural neoclassical structure and one of the most significant landmarks of the city of Athens.

Our brief stop outside the Presidential Mansion, will give you the change to marvel at the magnificent event of the changing of the guards before continuing further into the city.

With the Acropolis towering above, you’ll ride down the wide pedestrian path to Thission, one of the buzziest and most interesting neighborhoods in Athens. The tour will pass by the Ancient Greek and Roman Agora before reaching the Athens City Cathedral, where you can visit the largest Orthodox church in the city.

The Acropolis tour by bike includes cycling through the charming Plaka Neighborhood where the central local market for souvenirs and small gifts is found.
Towards the end of the 1st part of the Acropolis tour by bike you will be able to take the most memorable photos in front of the Temple of Olympian Zeus and Handrian’s Arch before heading to the Acropolis.
 

The second part of the tour consists of a walking tour of the Acropolis that will focus solely on the sacred rock and its monuments, such as the Parthenon.

After returning to the starting point, you will get off the bike and meet your licensed tour guide in order to begin our historic tour of the Acropolis and its significant monuments. During this tour you will learn about the history and importance of the monuments that are essential to Greek History, such as the Theatre of Dionysus, the Temple of Asclepius and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus.

You will enjoy the magnitude of the Temple of Athena Nike, the Propylea and the Erechtheion before reaching the top of the hill where the Parthenon resides. You will stand in awe in front of the glorious monument and enjoy a one-of-a-kind panoramic view of the city of Athens.

Is Athens safe for cycling?

Our routes are totally safe as we do not cycle on busy streets. We ride only on bike paths, car free zones and low traffic streets. Nevertheless, it is important that all participants know how to ride a bike on public streets and to follow the traffic rules.

Do I need to be fit to join the tour?

Do not worry about your fitness level or your cycling skills. Our route is designed for the average cyclist. We cycle at a leisurely pace, we avoid difficult up-hills and we make plenty of short stops along the way.

How should I dress?

Our bike rides are pretty easy, so there is no need to get dressed like a pro. Since the weather in Athens is usually mild and warm, you may put on something light and comfy. In case of rain, we provide rain ponchos for free.

Do you provide water bottles?

Athens by bike, as a dedicated environmentally friendly company, encourages the use of reusable plastic water bottles. If you have one, you can refill it with tap water in our shop.

Do you have e-bikes?

Yes, we do. Using our high quality e-bikes is a convenient and fun way to explore the city.

Are there any facilities at the starting point?

Our bike shop is equipped with all the essential facilities for your convenience, including tap water, a storage room, and free Wi-Fi. You can also safely store your luggage at our shop during your tour.

Do you offer private tours in other languages?

Our scheduled daily tours are in English. However, we do offer private tours in other languages, upon request and according to availability.
