Depart from your accommodation in the morning to Pella, capital city of Ancient Macedonian Kingdom, birthplace of Alexander the Great and place where the great philosopher and tutor Aristoteles was invited by King Philip II to educate his sοn, crown Prince Alexander. Visit the outdoor monumental palatial complex with the outstanding mosaic floors that used to decorate the city’s grand mansions. Enter its modern museum that consists of five thematic groups revealing the daily and public life in Pella, the mosaics of Pella’s sanctuaries, city’s cemeteries and information about the Grand Palace and the life and personality of Alexander the Great. Continue to Vergina, the first capital of Ancient Macedonian Kingdom and a site of outstanding natural beauty. Visit the site of Aigai, a World Heritage site of UNESCO, which consists of the Polycentric Museum, the Palace, the city, the Acropolis and the surrounding area. Admire the royal tomb of King Phillip II, who conquered all the Greek cities, paving the way for his son Alexander and the expansion of the Hellenistic world. After this amazing experience, enjoy a traditional lunch in surrounding area (or in the city of Veroia if time allows), before heading back to Thessaloniki.

The distance between Thessaloniki and Pella is 48 km and lasts approximately 45 minutes.
The distance between Pella and Vergina is 56 km and lasts approximately 55 minutes.
The distance between Vergina and Thessaloniki is 70 km and lasts approximately 1 hour.

What do I need to bring with me on the tour?

Bring sunglasses, hat, sunscreen and comfortable clothes during summer months & warm clothes and waterproof jacket during winter months. Have your ticket (electronic or printed) with you & your ID/PASSPORT (or copy).

Is there any special entry policy in the museums and the sites?

Free entry to the Museum of Vergina is available to the students of Universities, Technological Educational Institutes or equivalent institutes of EU countries by showing their student ID, and to young people up to the age of 19 by showing their ID card

Reduced entry to the Museum of Vergina (€ 6) is available to all citizens of the EU aged over 65, by showing their ID card or passport, as well as students from countries outside the EU.

Free entry to the Museum of Pella is available to the students of Universities, Technological Educational Institutes or equivalent institutes of EU countries by showing their student ID, and to young people up to the age of 18 by showing their ID card.

Reduced entry to the Museum of Pella (4€) is available to all citizens of the EU aged over 65, by showing their ID card or passport, as well as to students from countries outside the EU
