Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Meteora on a comfortable exclusive private full-day trip from Thessaloniki. Admire the stunning views of the giant rocks, visit 2 of the 6 monasteries and learn about the monastic life of the monks and nuns.
Depart from your accommodation in the morning, through the dramatic landscape of Central Macedonia, to the stunning monasteries of Meteora – renowned UNESCO World Heritage site – wandering between heaven and earth. Visit 2 of the 6 well preserved monasteries, built high upon the steep rocks. Each monastery owns a vast richness of frescoes and icons. Feel the hospitality of the monks and nuns who are involved in welcoming you and learn about their monastic life and their beliefs. Admire panoramic views of these incredible structures and the stunning landscape. The pillars of rock, sculpted by prehistoric rivers and crowned by otherworldly monasteries, are monuments to the power of nature and faith. Meteora means ‘suspended in space’. Your first, second and third sight of these impossibly tall, vertical rocks will have you gasping in disbelief. But it’s not just the incredible geology that stretches your imagination. It’s the monasteries balanced on these pinnacles. How did they get there? After this amazing experience, enjoy a traditional lunch in Kastraki, a village nestled among the rocks, before heading back to Thessaloniki.
Your tour escort shall hold MY GREECE signage at the pick up point.
