Enjoy our unique full day trip from Athens to explore the Unesco heritage site of Delphi, the site of the omphalos, the ‘navel of the world’. You will have the opportunity to explore by your own the ruins of the sanctuary, dedicated to Apollo, the Olympian god of light, knowledge and harmony. Blending harmoniously with the superb landscape and charged with sacred meaning, Delphi in the 6th century B.C. was indeed the religious centre and symbol of unity of the ancient Greek world, where pilgrims came to the site to receive an oracle from the Pythia, the priestess of Apollo. During the tour you will see among others famous monuments like the treasury of the Athenians, the Athenian Stoa and the temple of Apollo. Afterwards, we will start our 3 hours trekking route towards the less known Korikion Antron cave, located on the slopes of Mt. Parnassus overlooking the Corinthian gulf. The cave was used as refuge from the Oracle Pythia and the God Pan, according to Greek mythology and nowadays inside the cave we will admire beautiful stalagmites and stalactites. Return back to Athens passing by the picturesque mountain village of Arachova, where if time allows, we will relax and enjoy a traditional Greek coffee before heading back to Athens.
