Mount Parnitha is the highest mountain of Attica region with huge fields of pine forests, many species of flora and fauna and rich history. It is the perfect mountain escape, located only 30 minutes drive from the hustle and bustle of Athens city. Our trekking route is circular, with duration of approximately 5,5 hours (including breaks) and en route we will admire the ruins of Ancient Athens’ Aqueduct, the sacred cave of Panagia Faneromeni, many water sources and the Cave of the mythical God Pan, god of the wild, shepherds and flocks, nature of mountain wilds and companion of the nymphs. Perfect escape for those who desire to explore the nature and the mythology of Athens.
My husband and I took this tour the first week of October with Aimilianos. The hike itself was moderately challenging, approximately 8 miles with some short sharp ascents and descents and one area of rocky scramble. I would recommend good hiking boots for this one as my street running shoes were a little too flimsy. It is also very windy at the top so even on a warm day don’t forget a light jacket. This was the highlight of our trip to Athens though! Aimilianos was very knowledgeable and a very good conversationalist. It felt like we were just going on a hike with a friend. The views are absolutely spectacular. If you have the hiking fitness, this is a tour you don’t want to miss!

Excellent hike and guide. Aimilios was great in telling me about the area and the history of the ancient aqueduct. This was a hard hike, almost 10 miles and he made sure I was doing ok. Beautiful area that I never could have done by myself!
